I remember when I heard about this demo. My reaction was, “there’s a YMCA skatepark in Santa Maria?!” I couldn’t understand how I could live in Santa Barbara and have no idea there was a YMCA park (with a vert ramp no less) an hour away from my house! I still can’t believe it actually. To be fair, I had visions of the Encinitas one, but I feel like the Santa Maria one was geared more towards BMX. And so this was the one and only time I went here. Ha! Peep the pit footage at the end. If you were there you might see yourself!
P.S. Santa Maria is the largest city in Santa Barbara County, has a huge skate scene, and STILL lacks a proper skatepark. Much like Santa Barbara, they should have at least 5 or 6 by now. Once again the Central Coast is left behind. -EHatch
