Silas Baxter Neal, backside kickflip, off Milpas Street in SB, SLAP Magazine Nov 2002. When the Powell riders would come down to Santa Barbara to visit, I would take them out and try to get some photos. Usually it was just me and the skater, no filmer, just driving around taking them to spots. This bump I saw looked like it had potential, but no one I ever took there was into it. But Silas, he would skate anything I took him to. We got out of the car, he said oh maybe a B/s flip? I said that sounds sick, and luckily I shot the first go because he did it first try! The way it flips vertically in frame 7 is so sick. I think he just rifled this off, I shot the sequence, and we left.  It was good to see Silas went on to be SOTY, reaching the big time, because he’s the real deal and cool dude. – Words and photos by Erik Olson
